Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and Christopher Marlowe’s Dr. Faustus Essay

Superman, Spiderman, Iron Man, Batman these are some examples of the modern day hero. Most call this form of a hero a Super Hero. In the azoic nineteenth century, the popular hero of the day was the romantic hero. Mary Shelly gives a great picture of this hero in her novel Frankenstein. She uses passe-partout Frankenstein, the creator of the historied Frankensteins Monster as her character which embodies the traits of a romantic hero. The model was relatively new however, Christopher Marlowe had written a character in the early fifteenth century which embodied the same characteristics. These attributes of romanticism in the form of a hero are seen in both Mary Shellys Frankenstein and Christopher Marlowes Dr. Faustus in very much the same way. The authors use their respective hero to present the flaws in human nature and humankinds predisposition towards sin victimization such things as obsession, internal battles and differing moral codes. The romantic hero is obsessed with someth ing, and usually this something is detrimental towards themselves and or their relationship with Christ. Victor is obsessed with two things one, the humankind of his monster and, two, finding his monster after his life is destroyed by it. Victor says that so deeply was I engrossed in my occupation that he did not watch the blossom or the expanding wills which had previously enamored him(Shelly 34). Victor was so obsessed with the creation of his monster that he did not even leave his lair. This obsession led to health problems, seclusion from the world and his family, and ultimately to the deaths of several people because of the monster he completed. Towards the end of the novel, we see a Victor consumed with finding and killing the beast. He swears to purs... ...arated by about three hundred years and different types of literature however, Shelly and Marlowe use the qualities of a romantic hero to show that human nature is flawed and that man is prone to sin. They use the qualit ies of obsession, internal battles and differing moral codes to convey their message that Bad company corrupts good character so to speak, the bad company being humans and their sinful nature, and the good company being seemingly harmless qualities of a hero(1 Corinthians 1533). Humankind should take their stories as an example and learn from it, by turning to God instead of those things.Works CitedBarker, Kenneth L., ed. Holy Bible. Grand Rapids, Michigan Zondervan, 2010. There are two mentions of black political prisoners (most are white). They are considered unusual because Fidel Castros regime was meant to favourable to black people in general.Even people who are said to have firmly set ideas can have doubts, like the hard-line communist soldiers who do not join in when the women are being attacked and the guards that in one particular incident slip the starved prisoners food. The pros and cons of the chivalrous Cuban idea that women are considered proficient and passive, and therefore only the most offensive women criminals are jailed in Cuba, and the disregard of it by some officials. This is touched on whenever there is contact with the greens prisoners, and in an especially disturbing scene where a group of female common prisoners are let into a cell where a young female child is held as a traitor to the Fidel Castro regime.

Child Care and Observation Essay -- Child Psychology Essay

Observation is very important in young children because that is how you get to know a child better. While spy how a child interacts with their peers, adults, and how they behave in different settings, you are getting to know the child without speaking to them. It may be important to observe a child but at the same time it may mislead you into being judgmental, too soon. For instance, if you observe a child misbehaving, not getting along with the other children or talking back to the teacher, you might get the impression that he/she is a bad child and you might treat and act differently with that particular(prenominal) child. From my personal experiences, I have to come to the conclusion that it doesnt always work the way I believe when observing a child. I strongly bump that in order to get to know a child you should not spend roughly of your time observing him/her. Interacting with the child gives off better results. not once or twice, this should be a consistent thing. For examp le, in room seven we have a child by the name of Thomas which most of us have heard about him. He appears to be very aggressive and angry from what we have observed. Even though the child may be difficult at times, I cannot turn my back on him and give up because of this. We can only observe what lies in front of us. No champion really knows what goes on when the child is home with his parents. He might be going through some really hard times with his family and this is how he is make out with it but, ...

The performance of BIMS palm force play has eventually deteriorated and attributed to the sudden increase of operating cost at a rate of 74 percent, divergent to the usual 50-60 percent turnover in the previous months. The disturbing power has called the attention of BIMS General Manager Barbara Tucker and tasked Human Resource Manager Debra Horner to conduct an initial finding. In this paper, the display case study of BIMS allow for be discussed to examine the overall situation of the workplace, such as the existing line of work, underlying causes and development, resolution and procedure, interested parties and challenges to the management. As found, the problem developed upon irregular performance of personnel, such as the higher occurrences of sick leave and dawdling at work that brought about complaints of DMC on sloppiness of BIMS personnel services.Accordingly, an employee survey has been conducted by BIMS HR Manager to evaluate the underlying causes and development of problems, purposely to resolve the problem prior to initial inclination of replacing the personnel. close to 78 respondents endure participated on the initially conducted survey, representing 17. 3 percent of the overall targeted personnel. Illustrated below was the survey tool Source School of Advanced Studies, Pearson C ustom produce (2004)The challenge to finding the causes of problems and its resolution has been devised by the HRM through the above illustrated survey tool, primarily reconsidering the employees to convey their views, such as cited on (1) work condition, (2) shift scheduling, (3) skills training, (4) compensation, (5) conversation and information, and (7) job security (School of Advanced Studies in Pearson Publishing, 2004). Evidently, the management itself is the majority stakeholder to meeting the challenging situation of change in the performance of the workforce in invest to resolve the issues. Thus, the result of the survey is signifi assholet to meeting the challenges. Problem Statement It is known that there are major gaps affecting the work performance of BIMS personnel. The problem is primarily attributed by the issue of unfair compensation and secondarily attributed by weak communication between the employees and the management. This problem narration can be substanti ally presented based on the result of survey as illustrated below Source Authors own (2009)As indicated in the model above, Question 6 obtained 19 respondents with negative responses and 0 respondents have ever positive degreely responded, similar to Question 9 that obtained 17 negative responses and retained 0 positive results. Therefore, the problem statement relating the inferior performance of the employees must be significantly addressed by the management with reference to the result of primary and secondary issues affecting the problem. Further findings have found the range of points from positive to negative responses of respondents. It shows that the internal or organizational problem is well expressed on the point-to-point responses from 1 to 5 scoring. On the other hand, the scoring between 2, 3 and 4 also indicates the relevance of negative responses away from being positive, manifesting that the problems are causal to the dispensation of management, in which is exhibite d by the illustration below Source Authors own (2009) The point-to-point scoring from 1 to 5 exhibits the range of responses between 95 (negative) and 163 (positive). It is noticeable that the scoring between positive and negative has a very significant gap or distant difference. As indicated by the Median Points between 2, 3 and 4, the range of points can be noticed to be far different to obtaining positive responses, wherein illustration above has indicated the gaps of scoring at 232, 148 and 113. In sum, the positive responses representing a total of 95 are far distant even from the scoring at median points, of which capsulate the finding of significant problem.

Mrs. Dalloway

Virginia Woolf in Mrs. D every last(predicate)oway derides the superficiality of sociable conventions in society, forcing its members to incessantly pretend, bury their individuality and abandon their own take ons.The text depicts how individuals ar shaped by their loving environments, how historical forces impinge on peoples lives, how figure, wealth, and gender help to determine peoples fates.Mrs. Dalloway was produce at a snip when British society was still recovering from World War One.The difficult post- war times stirred Woolf privately and even sotually affected her writing Woolf focuses on the congenital explanation of the characters while bringing to light the social conditions of the postwar Britain.Mrs Dalloway is set in a very volatile time period in Britain, portraying the creative thinker that war is more than just a conflict on a battlefield .The war lead to the ravaging of not except the physical infrastructure in Britain, scarce the social/political i nfrastructure that is vital in character relationships and analysis.Woolf showcases London populated by people of differing disabilities, socioeconomic statuses, and sexualities wherein each character occupies a unique position within the narratives classist, patriarchal, and heteronormative society.Woolf eliminates any sense of an omniscient narrative voice by the constant bounce from the narrator?s commentary to the thoughts of a central character.Mrs Dalloway portrays a critique of Empire and the war, taking the state as the embodiment of patriarchal power, who even Richard Dalloway refers to as our detestable social formation. Dalloways words reverberate Virginia Woolfs intention In this book I take over almost too many ideas. I want to give life and death, sanity and insanity I want to criticise the social system and to show it at establish, in its most intense.Mrs.Dalloway offers a scathing indictment of the British class system.Woolf, through her novel and her characters s uch as Clarissa Dalloway, Septimus Warren metalworker, Dr. William Bradshaw and Dr. Holmes, shows how complex structures of power can seize the peoples real indistinguishability and fabricate it in order to be appropriate with the values and norms of power. In Mrs Dalloway, the British upper-class ignores the actuality of the aftermath of war and social events become a abidance of normalization for them to neutralize the existence of reality, giving them an illusion of fulfilment and connectedness.Mrs Dalloway becomes an extended social critique where the audacity and stateliness of the most prominent guests is mocked through the description of the epicurean Hugh Whitbread, the sophisticated Lady Burton.Clarissa by inviting high members of English society who are the symbols of power, provides an appropriate background for madness to reveal itself, where the upper-class cannot help but find relief and peace in the deaths of working class people who have become free of all societal pr essures resulting in Septimus suicide adequate a casual conversation at their party.Woolf mocks the inability of upper class English society to recognize the changing social and political landscape .Lady Bruton,a at a time powerful upper class individual faces challenges due to her old ways of aristocratic networking, representing the degeneration of old english society.Richards committees, Lady Brutons emigration project, Hugh Whitbreads letters to the quantify , are all the exhibition of the authority of ruling-class.Hugh, an advocator of ruling class, functions as a symbol of all those who have inherited their social standing and who are protective of their privileged social standing. Woolf gives us Kilman as a symbol for all the despicable things people sometimes claim to do in the material body of religion.Society includes a group of people who are in common geographical region and under the same political and cultural authority. Individuals have to accommodate to the norms defined by the society and violating these unwritten rules, is seen as abnormal. In Mrs Dalloway,Holmes and Bradshaw try to suppress this abnormality.Bradshaw views himself as one who helps his country by making his patients conform to his idea of sanity and secluding them from society. The characters of the doctors, Hugh Whitbread, and Lady Bruton as compared to the tragically mishandled plight of Septimus, allows Woolf to depict how exposed and ill-treated those suffering from mental illness really are by the doctors.Septimus Smith is portrayed as a war veteran suffering from shell-shock, who finds frustration in his doctors prognosis and decides to commit suicide. Septimus felt that his lack of emotion was a constrict of strength and courage. Woolf, through portraying Septimus life, indicates the prevalent insanity in London and the disillusionment in English people. His suicide becomes an act of resistance to the power of Londons social system.Septimus, through his madness, his death and life, unveils the truths hidden under the surface of society. Woolf utilizes madness to criticize the structures of English society with a sharp attack to the social system at its most intense. Placing the doctor and patient together, Woolf emphasizes the fatal impact of societys social structures upon people. The world of the sane and the insane side by side Woolf portrays the sane grasping for meaningful and substantial connections to life.Woolf in Mrs Dalloway showcases the breakdown of stable social categories and how the escalation of social roles to be performed results in an anxiety about the ability of the characters to sanely exist within a hostile social system, performing roles that do not adequately correspond to their identity element.Woolf shares a ruthless observation of the social system, through Clarissa Dalloway and Septimus Smith, who have both been have been psychologically damaged by their position in society. These two psychologically distinct and di sparate characters, both try to establish a stable identity while struggling with patriarchal arrangement of the society and misunderstanding of mental illness.Clarissas fertility is the sole dynamic providing her with a function in this patriarchal society, hint her to face a psychological crisis as to her future role. Septimus suffers a similar crisis of identity as a victim of the society fighting a war sparked by bureaucratic tensions out of his control.Unable to reconcile his feelings for the England he left to fight for and the England to which he returns leads to rapid changes in his status and identity eventually claiming his sanity. both Clarissa and Septimus suffer from the societys oppression Septimus eases his internal struggle through death while Clarissa is unable to find a way out for herself due to the ideology of class propriety to which she must adhere to.Woolf portrays the conventional society of the beginning of the 20th century, where womens lives were shaped b y the patriarchal society, sexual suppression and ideologies of gender. The society brings to light male normativity, which governs what is more convenient to their genre, where most of tht men belong to the public sphere, possessing an active role within their society and majority of women belong to the private sphere, dealing with household or some domestic issues. Woolf through the text offers a critique of the patriarchal and imperialistic society, where women have no individual identity, and are impelled to suppress their needs.Woolf utilizes Clarissa as a vehicle for critiquing patriarchy and all it involves including class-based social ranking, gender bias, and heteronormativity.Clarissas decision to marry, in general, is because she is a member of a society that enforces heterosexuality upon an individual.Clarissas love for Salley Saton, contradicts all norms of patriarchy and they ignore their desires because the only accepted female identity was the one that was accepted by patriarchy.Clarissa, in rejecting the potentially fulfilling relationship with Sally and marrying Richard , not only conforms to the expected ideologies of her society, but represses her homosexual desires for women. Because of her place in society, Clarissa explores her sexuality and love for Sally only in her memories, while her marriage to Richard Dalloway represents superficiality and conventionality of the upper-class in the early twentieth century Britain.Septimus class and his mental instability differentiates him from Clarissa however, they both struggle with the same oppressive structure-patriarchy that defines and categorizes men as much as they do women. Septimus idealizes war for it offered him the apparently straightforward and masculine role of defending idealized womanhood. His societys expectations of masculinity destroy his ability to express his emotions. He sees phantoms, has visions, and is unable to convey his reality. incision Walsh exemplifies the oppressive e ffects of male privilege and heteronormative systems, by using Daisy Simmons to fulfil his preconceived idea of marriage. Woolf emphasizes the misconception of marriage as a social chain, criticizing how marriage obligate boundaries on people that psychologically oppressed them, leading them to even commit suicide.Clarissa, conforms to the ideals present in her societySeptimus, too, marries but shell-shock prevents him from reintegrating into Londons social spaces. Septimuss suicide highlights the fact that in that respect is no way out of the patriarchal structure there are only ways of coping with it.The terrible effects of patriarchy is portrayed similarly through Lucrezias life who becomes a victim to the cruelty of the social and political doctrine of the English society. She silently struggles through Septimuss insanity, enduring even the indifference of Septimus, for whom she left her relatives and country.Mrs. Dalloway acts a critique on female subjugation in the domestic sp here of hostessship where Woolf presents characters that are lost in their own being, they have to put up to the obstacles of the system that gives them an apparently viable reality.Woolf rejects the literary and linguistic conventions of novel-writing to dismantle the ordered nature of early 20th century society.Through this aversion to established literary practices, Woolf subtly proposes the need to alter the traditional rituals and structures of society ,if its inherent problems are to be rectified. However, Woolf is never brazenly or overtly radical in her condemnation, refusing to adhere to one specific viewpoint. Many critics argue that the novels depicted by the technique of stream-of-consciousness struggle reflect the serious social problems and that Mrs. Dalloway is an apolitical and asocial novel about individual internal life as opposed to social life. Critics who do believe that the novel is concerned with social and political events and developments of the time, conside r it a novel of suggestion, not argumentation.Woolfs social critique and political radicalism are more subtly formed and is expressed in the language of observation rather than in direct commentary since she believes it is the readers work to put the observations together and understand the coherent point of view behind them.As Julia Briggs indicates in Virginia Woolf An Inner Life, Woolf invites readers to explore the literary tensions within her novels Woolf intended her experiments in writing to bring the reader closer to everyday life, in all its confusion, mystery and uncertainty, rejecting the artificial structures and categories of Victorian fiction.

Yoga for Eye Sight

The great master Swami Vivekananda said that there are quatern main streams of yogaJnana Yoga, Raja Yoga, Bhakti Yoga and Karma Yoga. To use all these streams of yoga to build the personality. We are now going to focus on Eyesight Development or Eyesight Improvement. In late 60s the TV came afresh in Bangalore city and e reallybody was so fascinated, particularly the children glued themselves to TV forgetting all their sports outside. Went on watching 3 hours, 4 hours, 5 hours, 6 hours and movies after movies and as expected it started happening in 5 or 6 years, 1972-73 we started seeing most of these children wearing very thick glasses. We felt too bad. We said can we solve this problem? Many people said that we are not going to allow our children to watch the TV. That is no solution. This is when we started developing yoga module. The specialised techniques that yoga prescribes for eyesight improvement were selected from various yoga techniques. The precautions we carry off on to take, norms that we have to follow were taken care. So we developed this module, iintegrated yoga module for eyesight improvement. We started giving that in Yoga Camps. One calendar week camp, 15 days camp, one(a) month camp and we started documenting the result whether really it is useful or not. The results were very fascinating. When we have an average of 1000 or 1500 sstudents, we have found that the eyesight can improve by one Diapter for short sight sstudents with a practice of every day half an hour for one month. This iintegrated yoga module can bring such wonderful results. Practice for half an hour every day for one month, one Diaptor is going to reduce. Yoga in statement for Total Personality Development SERIES 2 8 Yoga for Eye Sight ImprovementWhen we continued children with -5, -6, -7 children were able to normalise their eyesight. Then we started taking up this. ab initio we have short theory and then we go for the practice and what is the whole basis for the e yesight improvement that we are talking? Many people specify that the accommodation power of the lens is going to change. No. It is Eye Ball Curvature. In short sight the image is falling too far in front of the Fovea. But why is that distortion taking place in the eye ball? This is because of the differential pull of the rectie muscles of the eye ball.So when we do yoga in which we get across the eye excercises to see that the muscles co-ordinate so cohesively that the eye ball starts becoming normal. How do we know it is going to become normal? One of our Opthalimic specialist Dr. Upadhyay in England, measured the eye ball curvature and after 15 days, after one month of yogic practices the eye ball curvature started getting normal. such results prove that yoga brings in normalisation and it is these techniques that we have used. Trataka is the specialised practice that yoga prescribes. It is one of the six kriyas.Kriyas are essentially meant for clearnsing and to strengthen the nerves which connect the eyes to the top dog which handles the different muscles and calming down of the mind, silencing of the mind, slowing down of the breath, does wonders. Therefore in this module we are going to use some Asanas, special breathing practices and in the main the Trataka and the meditation which help the people develop their eyesight. Yoga in Education for Total Personality Development SERIES 2 Yoga for Eye Sight ImprovementLet us puree to understand the structure and functions of the eye so that we can go ahead to understand how Yoga works in improving our eyesight. We all have two eyes. A resting eye is designed for distant vision. Near work always involve lot of work on the small, little muscles of the eye. Each eye is comparable to a pholographic camera. Just like the camera has a diaphragm and an aperture, our eye also has a dark highly pigmented diaphragm called Iris. This Iris cuts off all the neat from entering into the eye ball and in the centre of t he diaphragm is the little transparent hole called the Pupil. The diaphragm is called the Iris, the apercher is called the pupil. Through this pupil only nature allows the light to pass through. What are the functions of a good camera? It should have a very good powerful lens so that it can have a very clear image at its focal point and it should be able to adjust very perfectly to the light conditions and also to the distance of the object from the deal of the Yoga in Education for Total Personality Development SERIES 2 10 Yoga for Eye Sight Improvement camera. Our eye although is comparable to a camera, is not having a shape of a camera.

The Bad Influences of Television

Lets admit it. We love watching television. In fact, we love it so much that we poop slide by hours just sitting in front of our small boxes just to get our dose of must-see TV. Television offers us all kinds of things to keep our eyes attach to the small screen such as late night talk shows, hit comedy sitcoms, and games shows that keep you guessing which briefcase contains a million dollars. With all the hours we spend on watching television, there is no doubt that somehow it has influenced us somehow. Although that it bottom of the inning influence attitudes of adults, older audiences can discard certain themes since we already be possessed of our own preferences. However, television can be a actually dangerous influence to young children who are still developing their brains. This paper shall discuss the b omitball influences of television on children and how these problems can be solved. Sex is a common problem that parents encounter with television. Some shows normally ha ve sexual themes that are not suitable for young audiences. These images may stay with the child as they grow up and lead them to expire sexually active in a very early age. Since they do not have adequate information ab come forth sex in early ages, this can cause a child to become pregnant or get infected with STDs. divagation from beholding these images, television shows may in addition have scenes wherein the characters are discussing sex. This is just as dangerous as seeing these images for they can also affect the child by making them more curious about what the characters are talking about. To give you an idea how violence can be a great influence on children, American viewers see an average of 200,000 acts of violence before they reach the age of 18 (How TV affects your Child) and this can be a very serious problem in the future if it is not addressed properly.Violence on television causes some problems such as emulating the images they see, traumatic stress on the child, and loss of sympathy to those who are suffering. Protagonists in TV shows have great influence on children. Whenever children see their favorite superhero kicking or punching the bad guy and save eventually saving the day they will think that these actions are correct as long as the superhero does it. Aside from suggesting violent actions to children, children may imitate these actions for fun because they would imagine themselves as these superheroes.Aside from causing children to imitate violent actions, these images may also cause trauma to a child. stimulate images of monsters may have some traumatic side effects on children since they still cannot distinguish the difference between the real world and a assumed one. Finally, watching too much violence on television can lead to a loss of sympathy towards people who are suffering. Just handle an antagonist who fails in the end of the show, children would think that those who are suffering deserve it since they have done somet hing bad before. Finally obesity is another problem that parents may face up with television. TV can cause children to reduce their time to play and exercise since they will be sitting down for hours. Aside from becoming very passive, children usually tend to have snacks while watching due to the commercial of the famous brand potato chips they just saw. So not only will they lack exercise, children will also begin to eat kinds of food that do not have any nutritional value, which is a very important factor in growing up.Aside from obesity, television can also cause a child to become anti-social since they would usually spend more hours watching rather than interacting or play with others. As we have seen in this paper, television can be a very dangerous influence on children. However, there are things that we can do solve this dilemma. First of all, parents need to always monitor what their children are watching. This will allow the parent to keep their child from watching shows t hat are inappropriate for their age.Parents should also be familiar with the shows that their children are watching so they could see immediately whether or not their child can watch the show. Parents should also reason out to the child whenever they are watching television. They need to explain to their child the images they see on television to prevent them from imitating these images or seeing them in the wrong light. full treatment Cited How TV affects your child. Opportunity description Currently, Vietnames e people are accustomed to Western culture, so they consider cakes not only as desserts or presents for birthday, but similarly indispensable items in special events such as Christmas or anniversary party. This trend leads to the rapid growth in begs of cakes, especially in holiday period like Christmas (Bao Moi Newspaper, 2009). Not stopping there, people excessively fatality to make their cake becomes more momentous to suit the purpose of parties or events. However, there are still no bakeries allowing customers to decorate cakes by themselves. As entrepreneurs, this is a good occasion for Ucake to develop a business idea to create more values and options for customers through its differentiated services. 2. Product / service description Ucake bakery that has differentiated services will be opened to make customer feel convenient and comfortable, bring more benefit, and sitisfy their needs. Two main services will be developed. Firstly, dissimilar cake designs will be updated f or customer to choose, and then Ucakes bakers will make cakes exactly based on designs offer. Moreover, customers besides drive out prefer their own design for Ucake to weapon. Although the design of cakes is whatsoevertimes not favored some customers, they still arrest to demoralize it as they submit fewerer choices. This problem can be solved when customers come to Ucakes store where they bewilder discordant choices and they can even bear Ucake to make the cake based on their own suggestion. Here at Ucake bakery, it sells not only cakes designed by its store, but similarly cakes customers want to engage. some separate service is self medal, which there are spaces provided for customers, and all requisite equipments are to support them decorating cakes on their own. When using this service type, customers will pay for a speak out base cake, toppings, and choice to design the cake and what is more, they are allowed to try the taste of the cream, toppings before pur chasing. To help clients better understanding of the services, Ucakes bakers are there and willing to give advice for cake decorates. The cakes can become so consequential for the receiver if people decorate it by themselves. For example, parents will be very surprised and happy if their children decorate a cake as a gift for their wedding anniversary. However, most of Vietnamese people do not have enough necessary equipments or places to decorate a cake. This issue has been recognized, and Ucake wants to generate services that give its buyers chances not only to garnish this kind of desserts but to bonk the fun and relaxation as well when they come to Ucake. 3. Description of the entrepreneur team A group four undergraduate students who are taking unmarried man degrees in RMIT University are recently having their family businesses run profitably in the Vietnam industry.Having followed different majors with background s of serving business, marketing, design, and especially in the hospitality streams, the team has ambition of launching a bakery locally which is called Ucake. On that account, the team seeks for potential opportunities with creative production to help solving customers problem, giving them more benefits, and also generating profits remarkably for their business. In addition, each member has developed a wide spread of professional relationship that would sustain their project in positive aspect and scale through their familys ne 2rk and friends.By employing some of members real working experiences from their family business and other service levels, the team is expecting use their conditions and supports to start up Ucake bakery masteryfully. II. The Industry and Market 1. Current Industry Analysis To improve Ucakes strategies and support the awareness towards different features imprinting its business, ushers five forces model is applied for analyzing risks that helps Ucake to control in higher progress in the Vietnam industry. According to Rice (2010), this model contains five typical aspects. 1. 1.Bargaining power of suppliers Low at heart the bakery industry, raw materials are decisive factors that contribute to the success of a business leading to high value of products and prestige. Usually, determines of materials like flour, sugar, milk are depended on the level of caliber customers want to aim at. In Vietnam, sources of suppliers for those ingredients are relatively diverse that can be derived from local grocery stores or larger suppliers. Hence, Ucake will have more options choosing dealer that are appropriate for its budget and choose. 1. 2. Bargaining power of buyers HighNowadays, the Vietnamese people are influenced by Western cultures and tend to go to cake shops as their hobbies, especially on holidays and other events. With numerous bakeries throughout the country, customers are advantageous to experience excellence and different prices of various bakery shops. Besides, some youths are also inte rested in do cakes by themselves as a result, clients have more knowledge of selecting the right cakes which are suitable for their commandment. 1. 3. little terror of new entrants High Since the regulations and procedures of starting up a bakery in Vietnam are not so complex (Vatgia. om, 2011), which even people with abject capitals can also invest on this kind of business, barriers to enter the industry here are not high. Therefore, as a new comer, Ucake faces the threat of self decoration service imitation from other components, including existing and approaching cake shops. 1. 4. Threat of substitutes High The level of threat of substitutes that Ucake faces is pretty high as there are many different types of food and dessert services developing in Vietnam (VietnamBriefing, 2008), such as ice cream, yogurt, fast food, Vietnamese sweet soup, etc. Thus, clients have various options of switching to other food once their demand of consuming cakes decreases. 1. 5. Rivalry among existing firms High At the moment, only in Ho Chi Minh City, there are over 100 bakery stores located widely, and the competition of bakeries are getting more and more intense as many large and sensitive local bakery stores exist in the market (Phan Le, 2012). Furthermore, the local bakeries also have to compete under pressures of investments from some famous foreign bakeries, which might affect customers perceptions and carrying into actions of local bakeries as well as Ucake. . Market potential Analysis Regarding this area, PEST model is used to examine the environmental part for executive director strategies. 2. 6. Political Due to To Loan (2008), food hygiene and safety are some of the biggest issues in Vietnam, and this issue is practically cared by the government. Research Center of Business Administration claims that HACCP is the highest international license required by the Vietnamese for a firm which wants to operate in food industry. So, Ucake must have HACCP(Hazard A nalysis and Critical Control Points) to meet the Food Safety faithfulness. 2. 7. EconomicUcake will have to take moderate rental cost, so the stores location does not have to be positioned in the center of Ho Chi Minh City. Due to Diaoconline. com (2012), the cost for a cardinal floored shop in district 5 is rough 1,000USD. Cost of facility and equipment for a new venture are paid highly in the starting time of all year in terms of the good quality facilities and equipment in order to make customer feel comfortable. However, since they are fixed be, the venture does not need to pay anymore in next few years, and maintenance costs will be paid less instead.According to VietnamBranding (2008), Vietnamese people refer Western fast food than Vietnamese. 2. 8. Social Dan Tri Newspaper (2012) states that Vietnamese people care and obverse more Western tradition and events (Christmas, mothers day, Halloween) and considers that cakes are commonly used in many parties and special even ts. This leads to high demand of cake, and especially during Christmas. Besides, in this century, people do not only want a delicious cake but increasingly care more well-nigh living and health issue (Viet Bao Newspaper, 2005).So, if Ucake has HACCP for ensuring the safety of the cakes and researching some of new healthy ingredients, more and more customers will be more attracted. 2. 9. Technology As a small business, high technology is not really fundamental for Ucake. However, Ucake need to have fresh, safe and high quality ingredients. Hence, safe and clean process of making and decorating cakes are highly presented, also the bakery can cooperate with its supplier to do research and development to adjust the amount of sugar and please customers, especially that are fastidious. . Competitors Analysis (referred to Appendix 3) 3. 10. Direct competitors Regarding the direct competitive environment, generally, most of Ucakes components are other bakeries in Vietnam, which are large l ocal bakeries, small cakes and cafe shops, and foreign bakeries. Some of Ucakes particular competitors consist of Vietnamese ones like Brodard, Givral and Jous Les Jours bakery from overseas. Firstly, Brodard and Givral bakeries are two of most enormous time businesses in the Vietnam bakery industry that selling cakes and other breads.Overall, both of them supply cake orders from clients like Ucake conversely, as their service regards to only takeaway cakes, they do not have self decorated cake services for buyers. For Tous Les Jours which is a popular chained bakery from Korea that mainly offers clients fresh breads, cakes and other desserts, the chain presently has more than 8 stores allocated in Ho Chi Minh City. Similar to Ucake, Tous Les Jours accommodates consumers with cafe spaces, and also makes cakes through customers idea suggestion.Nonetheless, the Korean chain does not have self decoration cakes and hardly to change to this kind of service while their concept is cons istent, and because of their large number of branches. 3. 11. Indirect competitors In this field, as Vietnams integration has been widely opened, different investors of foodservice piecemeal find opportunities in the Vietnam market. As a consequence, Ucakes indirect competitors are both domestic and foreign foodservice businesses surrounded by the nation.Among those components, Baskin Robbins (ice cream chains), Yogen Fruz (Yogurt chains) and Lotteria (fast food chains) are selected to weight against Ucakes potential. In general, all of those 3 businesses are serving utilization services apart from Ucake, and their statuses are reasonably strong compared to Ucake as a new comer. In addition, none of them contains mutually two kinds of services that Ucake has. For this reason, even though Ucake is totally new and less popular, its operation is not affected much by indirect challengers in terms of this new differentiated variety of service. . Target market/customers (referred to Ap pendix 4) 4. 12. Geographic According to World Bank (2012), the GDP per capita has been increased significantly since the year of 2000. Among the provinces, Ho Chi Minh Citys population claimed the highest with almost 6,000 people in 2010. Moreover, peoples average income in the northern area is also high, which especially in Ho Chi Minh Citys was estimated the greatest with approximately 3,000 USD per year (Hoa Le, 2012) determining higher consumption compared to other regions.Hence, Ho Chi Minh is an ideal location for Ucake to blueprint for starting up the investment and seek to achieve good profits. 4. 13. Demographic Ucakes targeted customers are aimed at the ages from 15 to 29 who are mainly teenagers and youths going to work as there are numerous young ages of under 30 that go on more than 50% of the Vietnam population (Nielsen, 2010). 4. 14. Behavioral Those groups of audience above are targeted not only because of their excess in the country population. Typically, a major ity of them tends to conform new updates of trend due to the international integration prospect and influence from other countries cultures. Thus, that is one of the reasons why many young Vietnamese people have interests in Western fast food and desserts by the appearance of investments regarding these kinds of food in the Vietnam market. Viet Bao Newspaper (2005) states the progressive encouragement of the Vietnamese of considering hygienic products as their merry priority for consumption in recent decades. For those points, Ucake finds it quite potential with great opportunities to set goals for achieving success through this targeted market. 4. Market penetration (referred to Appendix 5)Since the cake market is already at the maturity stage of the product life cycle, in order to enter the industry differentiation Focus Strategy is applied to Ucake. QuickMBA (n. d) says that Differentiation Focus Strategy can help the firm to narrow down to a specific group of customers, and gi ve consumers the best and different services compared to its competitors resulting in retaining customer loyalty. However, there are some limitations with this tactic that Ucakes service can be imitated or its targeted segment changes consumer needs. irregular marketing Ucake has to do marketing activities potently in the first year as it is a new and small firm in the market, and guerilla marketing is an ideal tool for new business which has limited marketing budget like Ucake. Some experts (Levinson, Levinson, & Levinson 2007) indicate that guerilla marketing is an easy and inexpensive marketing method for small business. Guerilla marketing strategy focuses on low cost, unconventional marketing tactics, and puts more time and effort to achieve maximum result. One week before the possible action of the shop, some of refrigerated cabinets made by glass can be placed on public places such as parks or supermarkets. so Ucakes big designed cakes are displayed inside to catch peopl es attention and trigger their curiosity. The slogan Your Cake will be put on cabinets to introduce Ucakes business idea to clients. * Additionally, few days before the launching day, the banner of announcing the decoration contest will be also situated near refrigerated cabinets to invite people to participate. The contest will be held during the opening day. nodes can join and buy their cakes with half prices Advertising advertisements of Ucakes establishment day will be posted on magazines for youths and teenagers such as Tiep Thi va Gia Dinh and Hoa Hoc Tro. A Facebook page of Ucake will be created as well in order to expand the brand community. Facebook is an ideal place for us to reach large number of potential customers. Ucakes products and other activities will be cognizant which are easy for consumers to view wherever they are. This social media tool can draw customers interests and Ucake can receive advantages from this marketing effect. 5. Stakeholder AnalysisBeside the owners, people that influence the performance and success of Ucakes business can consist of the customers, supplier and employees. Those important stakeholders are categorized and emphasized in 4 particular aspects in the table below. Stakeholder bureau Level of effect Expectation Supposed risks Investors Devoting for the establishment of the business Moderate Making decisions in right investing and capitalizing for beneficial profits of the company deficiency of financial sources or coastruptcy would threaten the operation of the business Customers Consuming goods and service of the bakery High More usage of roducts and services from customers helping the business to gain status and revenue to compete with others Bad comments from customers affecting the reputation of the business whether quality of goods or services do not satisfy them supplier Supplying raw materials to the client bakery (i. e. flour, sugar, butter, milk, etc. Moderate Providing required quality and quantity of materials not only to enhance relationship with customers but also help generating profitable products for customers Bad quality of raw materials supplied or late delivery time will cause unqualified products or delay in the plan of the business Employees Supporting and controlling the operation of the bakery High Adding efficient value to the business by applying their trained skills to the service and attending to customers in order to improve the bakerys performance Low capability, misbehavior to customers leading to decrease in turnover of the businessIII. Business Model Analysis (referred to Appendix 6) 1. Revenue sources The revenue is mainly generated from two items which are customers uniform cake and self decorated cakes. Customers ordered cake is produced based on the design that customers choose from Ucakes menu. Therefore, the price of each cake is the revenue varying due to the size and design from 300,000VND to 400,000VND. Customers self decorated cake is made th rough this process, in which Ucake provides a sheer(a) base cake and customers decorate the cake by adding toppings and creams check to their taste perception. The fixed revenue will be sale price of the base cake (150,000VND), and additional revenue is earned by the amount of toppings they supplement which costs 15,000VND per package of one kind of topping. Minimum of 100,000VND of toppings is expected to be just enough for decorating a whole cake nicely. Furthermore, revenue from self decorated cakes is pass judgment to be greater than from ordered cakes. Research result shows that there are no competitors providing this service at the present time. Other revenue is earned by the sale of soft drinks sold for customers in the shop, and one can of the drink costs 15,000VND.As the price is relatively cheaper, it will not be considered as authoritative revenue to ensure maintenance of business. 2. Cost drivers Number of consumers or sales of cakes will increase the raw material ex pense. Ucake only sells cakes, and the expense to satisfy customers demand will have the greatest impact on cost structures. Ingredients to bake plain base cake, such as eggs, sugar, butter, milk, salt, flour and cream, must be unbroken fresh so JIT (Just In Time) strategy will be utilized to decrease inventory costs.Being located nearby Ucake, the supplier (referred to Resources requirements part) will conduct prompt delivery at lower costs in daily basis. 3. Resource requirements / mapping In order to offer satisfactory services to customers, raw materials and humane resources are decisive in our business. The raw materials mentioned in Cost drivers part above will be purchased from Tan Nhat Huong, the only local firm provision cream, operating in Tan Binh district, Ho Chi Minh City. The quality is as high as other foreign companies products. As Ucake and the suppliers locations are geographically close to each other, Ucake can decrease significant logistic costs. Ucake needs f our people to run this business. One professional chef will bake the plain base cake and ordered cake. Two more amateur chefs will work as supportive assistants to help the main chef and to advise customers decorating cake. One soulfulness will be hired as receptionist. For this job, as there is no complex calculation involved, a person with no background of accounting can also be recruited.People will be hired from the online labor market (timviecnhanh. com), and Ucake will upload specific requirements of employees and interview the favorite candidates. 4. Investment size The first financial investment must be at least 100,000USD in order to start and operate Ucake for first year. Below is the cost analysis for the first five years after opening Ucake. * Fixed cost Ucake will be opened on Nguyen Trai Street, District 5 by renting a two floored shop . The rental fee will be 1,000USD per month which will be totally cost 12,000USD for the first year of contract. Also, other costs to operate the business like electricity, water are calculated to be 167USD per month (2,000USD / first year). * Variable cost As the cakes are adust after receiving orders from customers, ingredients are considered as variable costs. All costs related to baking process such as electricity, labor, ingredients are regarded as 100,000VND per cake. Assuming that Ucake produces 3,720 cakes per year, including two types of products based on the revenue analysis, the variable cost will be 20,000USD per year. * Semi variable cost Semi variable costs comprise two expenses absorb and marketing. The wage is for the four employees. The wage amounts for main chef, supportive chefs and receptionist are 200USD, 150USD and 100USD, respectively. In the initial year, monthly wage will be 600USD which adds up to 7,200USD of wage expense for the first year. Ucake will conduct marketing vigorously in the first year to present the differentiated services and gain customers awareness. The annual cost is e stimated to be 5,000USD. * Non recurring cost Equipments like baking ovens, furniture, and shop renovation costs will be spent before launching Ucake shop. All the equipment costs are calculated approximately 50,000USD.Sum of the first years costs are 96,000USD. However, in case of not covering expenses by the revenue, 4,000USD is needed as a back-up fund when Ucake meets unexpected costs. Hence, the first investment cost should be 100,000USD to cover the whole first year and half of second years expense. The first investment fund of 100,000USD will be recovered at the end of third quarter in year 2. Even though the price of cake is cheaper than other consumer products like electronic devices or automobiles, huge profit margin of cake will allow the business to step up from option to growth level. 5. Critical success factorsDuring the investment process, there are two main critical success factors of sustaining Ucakes operations. First of all, one of the most vital elements for a b akery to accomplish is the role of the head baker. A head baker needs to have long time experience in baking and decorating cakes. Yet, this is still not enough. Cakes are quite attractive to many people, but customers have begun fussier about this kind of desserts over time due to changes of their perceptions about nutrition and safety of goods (Viet Bao Newspaper, 2005) thus, the head baker has to update consumers behaviors and apply ethods that are adequate with their demands. For instance, he can use fresh cream instead of butter cream to reduce the fat of the cakes topping cream for making buyers more secure as regards their health. In addition, he is in charge of be after and estimating the number of sellable cakes per day to verify profits for the bakery also encourages products sold within 24 hours upon baking and avoids surplus of stock. Another critical success factor of Ucake is the quality of customer services. As a bakery providing self decorated cakes, in order to ser ve the customers needs, it is significant to hire a group of staffs that meet the working standard for this new type of service. Basically, the staffs need to have limited knowledge about cakes basis and skills of decorating cakes for teaching method whether their buyers cannot garnish themselves or need assistants. Besides, they are to support customers in providing them options of cake toppings shapes for their self decorated cakes, directing them to park vehicles, and make the shop atmosphere hygienic and convenient for them. With those points, Ucake can expect to match the criterions of services and keep its customers satisfied. 6. Risk analysis and management Among the risks, some distinguishing points strongly affect Ucakes enlargement that need to be aware and administrated in terms of its business conception. The first threat that Ucake might face is that the idea of customer self decoration services can be imitated by others which is estimated with high chance. As being ap peared at the maturity stage, products of Ucake are common in the industry, except that its services are developed to a different standard and have never been applied by other competitors. Nevertheless, although self decoration is new and unique compared to others, this concept does not require so many sophisticated progressions to implement the services in consequence, other bakeries, including existing and potential ones, can easily reproduce Ucake or create similar serving styles even if Ucake tries to protect its company via Intellectual Property Rights registration.Copying service is an unavoidable problem to Ucake still, Ucake would be the pioneer in applying self decorated cakes for clients in the market, so it is an extremely cautious period for Ucake to deliberate its growth as well as gaining customer loyalty by performing satisfactory products and services once it is first publicized. Additionally, the moderate possibility of employees misbehaviors to customers through out their serving mission might occur. During the business, employees have high responsibilities in making clients feel worthy with what they pay for the services and want to return to Ucake again. On the other hand, employees are sometimes negative effects of discouraging customers of using services due to their slow serving or bad attitudes, and this would be very dangerous for the bakery because customers have diverse options of bakeries to prefer. As a consequence, Ucake needs to spend a period of time training the employees carefully with some particular rules of the bakery before the stores launch to look forward to attaining effective services satisfying its consumers. What is more, employees should be praised with rewards or other incentives whether they do their job well in order to increase their productivity in addition to Ucakes efficient services. IV. Future Action Plan 1. Sources of start up capital Ucake is a relatively small size in aspects of budget, establishment co st and labor wage. The business model analysis shows that Ucake requires at least 100,000USD as set up cost. There are three possible financial sources to raise the fund. * Angel investment Ucake will open a business plan presentation to potential angel investors to persuade them that it is a feasible business.Angel investors will receive corresponding amount of return related to their investment size. * Loan from bank Banks allow the Vietnamese to receive loan if credibility is guaranteed. Ucake will summit five years of financial budget and business plan to convince that Ucake is a trustable business. 50,000USD is the amount Ucake plans to receive from the bank as a loan. * Financial supports from acquaintance four owners of the business are running their own family business and being successful. Ucake can be financially supported by their families. . Further information needed Ucake lacks legal knowledge about food market. As a result, the future operation of the bakery must be c hecked and advised by a law firm called TopicLaw. TopicLaw will support by providing standard of food and necessary licenses for Ucake to run the bakery such as sanitation of bakery, safety of equipments. Also, as Ucakes business idea is very easy to be copied, it should contact with consulting firm to protect the Intellectual Property Rights. The consultation will be about patent registration. The Target market analysis shows that the targeted market is quite potential. Tom Coronado

Case Study tom turkey Coronado real to form, Tom Coronado manager of employee relations for Huse Manufacturing Company pulled into his reserved company parking space early. It was 730 Monday morning usually the most hectic day of week, with more than its share of problems. But the first skillful unsandeds Friday had been payday. Now the bad news Monday of every week turned up Fridays payroll errors. With new hires, overtime work, and different wage-rate categories, there always seemed to be mistakes in figuring wages and paychecks. To make matters worse, in recent weeks, these errors had been on the increase.Reason a new computerized payroll system. Long live progress, Tom thought. He was to a fault thinking, with concern, ab unwrap a 10 oclock meeting scheduled with the executive vice-president on this very subject. Tom would generate to report on how the new system was working out. Right now, though, he needed to find at least an hour of quiet to get his report together. Fo rtunately, his office was quiet, and Tom was able to review a couple of computer printouts. But shortly after 8 oclock the phone began to ring. His secretary wasnt in yet, so Tom had to take six calls personally in 20 transactions. The first five were about errors in the payroll checks cardinal calls were from shop supervisors, one was from a worker on the night shift, one from the action superintendent, and one from the local union president. This last one was the most sweat the union leaders parting scissure was, When in blazes are you going to straighten out this payroll mess? The sixth call was from Toms secretary. She wouldnt be in today. Over the next hour, Tom was able to correct most of the payroll errors with a micro help from his friends. These included payroll clerks, the production superintendent, a junior systems analyst, and one hourly paid worker. By 930, Tom thought he was ready to stick his phone in a register cabinet and sit down with his materials for a last review before the 10 oclock meeting. Five minutes later the phone started ringing. It was Ted Brokenshire, president of the Metropolitan Personnel Association. Would Tom be willing to give a talk at the associations next meeting? By the time he hung up the phone, Tom cognize he had talked away the rest of his prep time before the meeting. It was 957. Quickly, he pulled together his notes and materials and walked into the two corridors to the vice-presidents office. The secretary waved him right in to a meeting that lasted two hours. But they were two hours well spent, Tom thought. The problems and the progress of putting in the new payroll system were taken apart, gone over, and put together again. And despite the recent increase in mix-ups, implementation was actually two weeks ahead of schedule. Tom came out of the meeting feeling good and ready to go ahead on the assignment. As he entered his office, it also occurred to him that he had a new more ingredients for that talk he had agreed to give Metro Personnel. Then his nerve center caught the clock 1220. Now for some lunch, he thought. He remembered that he hadnt had breakfast, and how he felt manage having a big plate of shrimp lo mein. Then the phone rang. Tom finally left for lunch at 230. As he pulled into the parking lot of the Shanghai Dynasty, he recalled that they were closed on Mondays. Los Angeles Independent Media Causes Essay

The Los Angeles Indep breakent Media centralise is a website that all(prenominal)ows for left wing issues to be reported and shared on the web for all to see. They involve over two dozen different categories that people pass on reported on ranging from animal rights and anti-war to in-migration and indigenous rights and issues. Arizona has a proportionally large number of illegal immigrants working in the put in safe like California. Naturally this was one of the categories that caught my eye. When reading some of the article I came across a story from 2007.It was a march in Los Angeles (LA) in which mostly immigrants participated. They were marching because they exigencyed to be case-hardened just as fairly as the legal citizens of the United States. They preached that they perplex been working just as hard to contribute to the economy of this country. There are two sides to any story and this is true in this case as well. On one hand they are doing the jobs that normal Ame ricans do not want to do but others argue that they are here illegally and should not have the same rights as legal Americans. These two sides will be debated for years to come until someone can come up with a reasonable solution that will satisfy both side. The idea of illegal under the tabularize help is too engrained within our society that it would be impossible to eliminate the issue over night. not only are illegal immigrants fighting for their rights, but in some cases so are Americans. In California Wal-Mart would contract with temporary job agencies to fill jobs working in warehouses. These workers can be undefended to toxic chemicals and extreme heat conditions. They are also sometimes not given the wages that they were promised. Because Wal-Mart uses ordinal party companies to supply the labor they have in the part denied any wrong doing in the situation. Of r verbotene in this case there are no unions to represent the workers and them facing the threat of losing their job if they mouth their dissatisfaction of their working conditions. Some groups are not even worried with the thought of having a job they just want to protect areas that have existed for hundreds of years. Kuruvungna means A place where we are in the sun in the Tongva language. For thousands of years the Tongva people lived here in relative peace and harmony with their environment until the European intrusion of the Americas. (Sunday, 2012) In 1992 a group of environmentalists was able to secure a piece of land that was located on a public schools property for the low cost of one dollar a year. This piece of property contained a natural escape that once belonged to the Tongva people before they were forcefully removed. The spring is said to have natural healing powers as well as native fish species, zippy water crayfish, a 200 year old Mexican Cypress tree, oak trees, hummingbird sage and other native grasses. The group is trying to secure another long term lease for the same p rice. maven of the much controversial issues of our times is the use of genetically modified foods for consumption. These foods consist of simple fruits and vegetable to more complex animals like cows and pigs. One major reason behind this is that scientists can modify items to parent more nutrient rich foods for consumption. Scientists can also take a shit animals that can be modified to produce medicine, organs for transplant, meat or even engineered pets.It seems like a good idea to have becoming organs and such to go around so that way no one would have to waitress for a transplant and in the long run saving human lives. The biggest debate is to determine whether a human life is more important than that of an animal. This debate has been going on for some time forthwith and will probably keep going on especially since the US Food and Drug presidency has taken steps to allow for the sale of genetically engineered animals. One of the biggest issues we have in America is po liticians bread and butter special interest groups and not the constituents they were elected to represent. The City of Fullerton California was faced with a lawsuit from a construction company after turn awaying the companys proposal to develop a more suburban sprawl in one of the last bits of natural ecosystems in Orange County. Initially the city council had voted to deny the request from the company. In a strange turn of events, a year later the city voted to dip with the company and approve the proposal. Currently citizens have collected signatures to get a referendum on the next suffrage to hopefully overturn the citys decision.Every year across the country we hear roughly budget cuts in the education system. Along with the cuts we also hear of colleges increasing tuition to cover basal costs. So the question remains how can a school cut costs because it does not have money yet at the same time raise tuition? People finally had generous and all across the country student s were walking out of class in protest and joined their federation members in protests at superintendents offices, city councils and board meetings to express their concern with all of the cuts that have happened. In modern months teachers have joined the effort, which has become inspiring that they seem to not have a concern for their jobs sequence they protest. Alas, the protests have had little success as we lifelessness see cuts being made and tuition is still being raised semester after semester. America is in the middle of a war and with that comes anti-war protests. Different groups have tried to use different tactics to draw attention to their cause. One group protests on gracility while others have protested on Christmas ask the question what would Jesus choose? One of the more stiff messages came from a group back in 2009. They staged a mock funeral precession honoring those American and Iraqi people who have died during the war time period. These protests have been so powerful that the president vowed to end the war if he was elected. The baby boomer generation has grown up with the knowledge that if they want their interpretive program heard then they organize a protest or a walk. After a liberal statement from a Canadian police officer in 2001, large groups of women took to the streets to get the word out well-nigh sexual assaults. The groups organized what they called a Slut Walk. It is one of those situations in which they should have thought about how the name of their walk could be portrayed within the community. These walks have occurred throughout the world to include the US, Canada, UK, Australia and some(prenominal) European countries. These walks have had support from several large human rights groups such as Planned Parenthood, CA National Organization for Women and Peace over Violence. There are many different subjects for people to aim article on that would spark criminal acts and public disorder. These subjects include Anti-War, Class War, Immigration, Police State, and Racism. These are all catalysts for groups to recruit people who believe in their cause. The best part about the website is that people can shoes at any time they wish. It also helps that the website has multiple links to other cities, states and foreign countries similar websites. This is polar because it does not bog down the website with data and provides a worldwide platform for left wing issues and causes.

Compare and Contrast a Doll House and a Streetcar Named Desire

Compare and contrast A Doll House by Henrik Ibsen and A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams. Write a brief essay (of approximately super C words) to com work forcet on the two female protagonists (Nora Helmer and Blanche Dubois) relationship with men. A Doll House by Henrik Ibsen and A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams are two well-known plays that give rise to discussions over male-female relationships in old society. The female protagonists in the plays are women who are subordinate on males. However, the female protagonist in A Doll House is able to transcend her status by try to be numberent on herself at the end of the play, whereas the one in A Streetcar Named Desire motionlessness continues to depend on men. In this essay, I am going to discuss the relationships with men of the two female protagonists, Nora Helmer and Blanche Dubois. In A Doll House by Henrik Ibsen, Nora Helmer is the female protagonist of the play. She is a housewife in the Helmers fami ly. She has undergone a transformation throughout the play that she reacts differently to her husband.Noras relationship with her husband, Torvald, is important in the developing of the plot. In the first scene, Nora appears to be happy and have an affectionate family. Although she tries to defy her husband in near unimportant ways, for example, she lies to her husband about eating macaroons, she still maintains a good relationship with her husband. However, minor hazard actually foreshadows the con anterioration between her husband and her later when the play continues. As the plot develops, Nora is actually not as simple as other wives that she does not totally obey her husband. The contradiction between Noras independent nature and the tyrannical authority of Torvald arouses a climax in the play when Torvald discovered a lie of Nora. The lie shows a big contrast of their relationship before and subsequently the disclosure. Before Torvald discovers the the square behind the deception, the relationship between his wife and him faces to be perfect and loving. At the beginning of the play, Nora does not seem to notice her life being manipulated by her husband she does everything according to her husbands taste and preference.Meanwhile, she manages to dispense with her husband from poor health condition by breaking the law to borrow debt from Krogstad and repaying it with pocket money from her husband. It is apparent that Nora is very smart and clever to handle difficulties not only for herself but also her husband. save instead of being a capable woman, she chooses to live up to the expectation of her husband, seeming to be disjunct from the outside world but to live in the world that her husband and father has set up for her. When it comes to other relationships with men, Nora respects her husband. She refuses to accept Dr Ranks admiration of her, and she also defends and supports her husband in front of Krogstad. Besides, She practices the dance for him so as to defense her husbands pride in front of batch and not to embarrass him. These are the evidence proving that Nora is manage a doll being controlled. She follows what men in her life, her father and Torvald, expect her to do, and this is the way she does to maintain good relationship with them. However, the relationship goes upside down after Torvalds unveiling of the secret that Nora has been hiding from Torvald whom she borrows money from.At the end of the play, the climatic confrontation between Nora and Torvald shows that Nora realizes the necessitate to live for herself rather than men. She wants to put the marriage to a halt just because she does not want to affirm on men anymore by pretending to be someone she is not in request to please her husband. As she determines to be independent, she left her husband and family at the end of the play to show that she lead never be related to anyone but herself. This action represents the idea of feminism and arouses the awareness of womans rights. Blanche Dubois in A Streetcar Named Desire, on the other hand, is contrasted with Nora Helmer. When the play begins, she is portrayed to be educated and accomplished woman. Blanche does not agree with the beastly lifestyle of her sisters husband, Stanley. She thinks that he is so common and ape-like. This shows that they cannot rise along well with each other during Blanches staying at their home. When the play develops, Stanley quickly seeks out that Blanche is actually a fallen woman. She lost her husband and her family fortune. She has sexual affairs with some men and addition to alcohol. Therefore, she necessitate much male admiration to maintain her remaining self-esteem.Besides, she wants to marry a man as a shelter so that she can escape poverty as well as her bad constitution in society. Mitch, therefore, is a chance for Blanche because he likes her very much. However, before they decide to be together, Stanley tells Mitch about Blanches indis crete sexual behavior in the past. This destroys Blanches pursuit of Mitch. After this incident, Blanche even makes up a story about going on vacation with a billionaire. It is obvious to see that Blanche always believe on men in her life, looking for admiration and a shelter for her from the tough reality. So, she always pretends to be someone men like in order to please them rather than being a true self. She even acts in front of men in the way that she does not really feel like that. Unlike Nora, Blanche is pathetic when it comes to relationship with men. While Nora undergoes a transformation from a controlled doll to a hearty woman who determines to restart her life again for the better, Blanche continues to rely on men heavily. In the last scene, Blanche is still so willing to be led away by a kind male limit to asylum just because the doctor is a gentleman. This tells us Blanches desperate and total dependence on men. When we compare Nora Helmer and Blanche Dubois, we can se e that they are two females of the opposites. Although both of them shows a confrontation between men and themselves, and both of them seem to be manipulated by men, Nora demonstrates a more positive way to challenge with mens dominance while Blanche shows a pathetic way which can be said a lack of feminism. The comparison of these two female characters stirs up a debate of womens rights. It also brings us to a higher level of discussion on the tension of the gender roles in society.

Black Aesthetics Essay

Black aestheticals The word aesthetics can be defined as a branch of philosophy that critically reflects on art, culture, and nature. It is a view, opinion, or an billet toward what is considered offensive or acceptable. It is more scientifically defined as a critical judgment of the afferent emotional values that exude from the nature of beauty, art, and taste. Aesthetics as it pertains to the black community or alone black aesthetics refers to ideologies and perspectives of art that centers around back culture and life.Black aesthetics spawned from the Blacks Arts fecal matter of the 1960s where blacks demonstrated that you didnt have to assimilate into white the Statesn culture. The work refers to a boundary of African American creativity beginning in the mid-1960s and continuing through much of the 1970s. It was a pivotal moment in African American literature. It inspired black people to establish their experience publishing houses, magazines, journals and art institution s. It led to the creation of African American Studies programs within universities. It all precipitated from the assassination of Malcolm X in 1965. Linked both chronologically and ideologically with the Black Power causa, The BAM recognized the idea of devil ethnical Americas one black and one white. The BAM pressed for the creation of a distinctive Black Aesthetic in which black artists created for black audiences. The movement saw artistic production as the key to revising Black Americans perceptions of themselves, thus the Black Aesthetic was believed to be an integral component of the economic, political, and cultural empowerment of the Black community. The Black Arts Movement called for an explicit connection between art and politics. This movement created the most prevalent era in black art history by taking stereotypes and racism and turning it into artistic value. The concepts of Black Power, Nationalism, Community, and Performance all influenced the formation of this nati onal movement, and it proliferated through community institutions, agency performance, literature, and music. One of the biggest problems that black Americans have been dealing with since being removed from our homeland is self-identification within western civilization.American culture was initially shaped by many European races and cultures coming together through share ideals and values in which, has attributed to our diversity. However, other races did not always have a choice all of the enslaved Africans were laboured to assimilate. During the late 1950s and early 1960s, many African nations were struggling for their independence from Europe. Their struggles correlate to the struggle of blacks in the United States during the same time period.Since the 1880s, when European nations colonized Africa, Europe had almost complete control everywhere the continent, but this changed during the 1950s and 1960s. By 1958, ten African countries had gained their independence, and sixteen more joined the list in 1960 alone. With these nations gaining heir independence, it demonstrated the ability of blacks to overpower their white oppressors. The Black Power and Black Arts Movement in the United States were the result of just that. Who are black people, what are black people, what is their relationship to America and the world? It mustiness be repeated that the whole myth of Negro citizenship, perpetuated by the white elite, has disordered the thinking of radical and progressive blacks and whites in this country. The broad masses of black people react to American society in the same manner as colonial peoples react to the West in Africa, and Latin America, and had the same relationship that of the colonized toward the colonizer. Too long have we allowed white people to interpret the greatness and meaning of the cultural aspects of our society. We have allowed them to tell us what was good about our Afro-American music, art, and literature. How can a white person wh o is not part of the black psyche (except as the oppressor) interpret the meaning of the discolour to us who are manifestations of the songs themselves? Black people concerning the contributions that we have made in shaping this country must make a thorough re-examination. If this re-examination and re-evaluation is not made, and black people are not given their neat due and respect, then the rivalries and contradictions are going to become more and more evident, more and more intense, until thither is a national uproar.
